Celebrate 25 Years of Walking Together
25 Years of Raising Funds, Creating Community, and Supporting Those Living with ALS
2025 marks 25 years of walking together to cure ALS! This year, we are honoring 25 years of our Walk program. In 25 years of walking together across the state of North Carolina, we have raised critical funds to support those living with ALS and for research to find a cure for ALS. For 25 years, we have walked side by side in solidarity to show that no one is alone in the fight against ALS. Help us honor each of you this year, because without each of you, we would not be able to honor the 25 years that we have walked together!
Were you a part of an original walk team in 2025? Have you walked for 10+, 15+, or 20+ years? Help us showcase your commitment and our shared history together! Email walk@alsnc.org with pictures from the past, anecdotes about your time walking, and any historical knowledge you may have.
All year long, we cannot wait to highlight the individuals, teams, sponsors, and honor those who have passed from ALS, as they are why we are still walking for a cure.

Help Us Celebrate Social Work Month
We are lucky to have Social Workers and Outreach Professionals on our team
March is Social Work Month! We are grateful to have four social workers on staff everyday, but this month we are pleased to celebrate them a little extra. Thank you, Alex, Alicia, Lily, and Joanna for the way that you support the North Carolina ALS community! We are also honored to work with social workers in our clinics and to have talented social workers as outreach professionals who lead our support groups.
Today, we are spending one-on-one time with Joanna Nunez, MSW, LCAS, LCSW. Joanna has been with us since 2012 as an Outreach Professional leading Support Groups, and joined our Care Services team in 2020. Joanna has an extensive background in working with Veterans and Mental Health. We invite you to read our interview with Joanna by clicking the link below!
