Miles That Matter – Turning Every Step into Impact

There’s something magical about the streets of Raleigh in the fall. The crisp air, the sound of sneakers hitting pavement, and the shared energy of runners pushing toward a goal. This year, you can be part of that energy and make it truly meaningful by joining ALS United North Carolina at the 19th Annual City of Oaks Marathon.

We call it Miles that Matter, because every step you take can help transform the lives of people living with ALS in our community. It’s more than just running—it’s racing for a cause, raising awareness, and bringing hope where it’s needed most.

How It Works

Pick the distance that challenges you—Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, or 5K—and register for the City of Oaks Marathon. Then, create your fundraising page with ALS United NC and invite friends, family, and colleagues to support your journey. Every dollar you raise fuels ALS research, care, and advocacy, making your miles even more meaningful.

Why Run with Us?

Running can feel like a solo journey, but with Miles that Matter, you’re never alone. When you join our team, you become part of a community that celebrates every mile and every effort.

From a pre-race team dinner where you’ll connect with fellow runners, to a private VIP suite on race day just a block from the start/finish line, we make sure you feel supported and celebrated. You’ll even enjoy a discounted hotel rate at Hampton Inn & Suites Downtown Raleigh if you book by October 1, 2025.

Every time you lace up your shoes, you’re doing more than chasing a personal goal, you’re making a tangible difference for people living with ALS. And as you cross the finish line, you’ll know your miles mattered, your efforts counted, and your run left a lasting impact.
